The Image of Jordanian and Palestinian Cities in Ibn Battuta's Journey: An Objective and Artistic Study

Abstract

Travel literature is one of the literary prose genres, with its own themes, characteristics, and artistic tools according to the journey and its purpose, and the ability of its author and his mastery of its artistic tools. Travel literature has types such as scientific journeys, Hijazi journeys for Hajj, historical journeys, fictional journeys, and many others. These journeys are considered historical and geographical documents that give a clear picture to the other and allows him/her to see new horizons. Therefore, this research will focus on the image of Jordanian and Palestinian cities in Ibn Battuta's journey, objectively and artistically. The research came in several themes, including: the introduction, which includes defining the concept of travel, its types, values, and stages of development, then the theme of Islam and travel, then talking about the image of Jordanian and Palestinian cities in Ibn Battuta's journey and the most important topics it included, then the theme of the artistic image, and a conclusion that comprises the most important results reached by the research. The descriptive analytical approach will be relied upon, with the use of other approaches as required by the context.
